Trial: Annual
Year Trialed: 1997
Good Qualities
Great color (4); Bloomed earlier than Rocket and Panorama snaps...good for fresh market; This was the best snap I've grown. No problems with disease and it also reblooms nicely; Good stem length, heavy producer, excellent germination rate; Excellent vase life as a fresh cut flower, large flower heads; Long stems, tolerated frosts. Appreciated at the Farmer's Market.
Problems
Color more fuchsia than crimson..okay but not real strong...florets a bit too widely spaced..and a bit thin stemmed; Not hardy as a field grown cut in this climate; Florists want giant stem length, not interested in our shorties, much cheaper from California.
Comments
This was a great snap; Most of these cultivars did well, but this could be due to the amount of heat we had this growing season, our normal seasons would not produce such prolific growth; No wholesale market for snaps but a must for farm market stems and bouquets.
