Astilbe X Arendsii 'Grande'

Trial: Perennial

Years Trialed: 1999, 2000

Good Qualities

Year 1

Good color; It lived in my clay soil. We’ll see if it will bloom next year; Some plants look good for full sun; Big plumes, good color range.

Problems

Year 1

Hot, dry summer and I lost some of these guys; Too early to tell, no production first year; Not well established. Plants are all showing die-back in heat; Too short.

Comments

Year 1

No flowers this year (3); I grow lots of other varieties of Astilbes that seem to be very similar, at least as far as the leaf is concerned; Plants are in full sun and not doing well, need some shade.
