Trial: Annual
Years Trialed: 1997Good Qualities
Excellent color and vase life (3); The best of the cultivars trialed; Nice clean flowers, long lasting, good seller on its own; Good, mixes well; Lasted for 3-4 weeks as a fresh cut. It was a complete surprise that the Lisianthus did so well in our climate. Once again this was due to our exceptional growing season. We would be curious to trial this one again and see how well it does; Transplanted well this time. Customers always like lisi; The seed germinated very well; Pretty, bright white or clear blue color; Less susceptible to disease than the other cultivars.Problems
Too short (2); Never bloomed. Had beautiful foliage but no flower; Not as long blooming as Echo's; Very disease susceptible, late bloomer (risk of frost damage); Always tough to keep it moist enough; We just don't have enough growing time or heat or something.Trial Data

Comments
Customers still prefer double Echo's; I see some improvement in germination time over old varieties; All of the Lisianthus were wonderful for corsage work; May be as a greenhouse crop in a different season-field production in the northeast can't compete with imports.
