Trial: Perennial
Years Trialed: 1998, 1999Good Qualities
Year 1
Spike is terrific (2); Wonderfully long spike for veronica; Vigorous. No pests. Gets very tall; The plants had very pretty flowers; Good sturdy plant.Year 2
White color (3); Good spike (2); Nice long stems; Tall veronica like bloom. No pest problems, no support; Good sturdy plant; Tall, grew well, should be lots of it next year.Problems
Year 1
Too short this year (2); We await next year; The plants were small and had a low productivity due to the short bloom time. The foliage was always crisp from the high level of light it received.Year 2
The foliage got kind of ratty (it was a dry summer) and they didn’t always hold up well in a vase; Very short time frame for cutting. Must cut as first 1/5 of spike opens or it goes quickly; White not very popular. Needs wet soil; White and went kind of seedy looking.Year 2
This guy is okay but not one of my favorites; Didn’t get much reblooming as I had expected. Also, stems all seemed to be ready at the same time; Recommend Veronicastrum virginicum ‘Lavender’.Trial Data

Year 1
Similar to veronica (2); Expect to be better in second year (2); I am already growing a few plants of this. It makes a great cut with 18-24 inch stems and is sucked up by florists immediately; Not enough blooming at one time to harvest; Should overwinter I hope. I have grown this one before and it makes a good cut with long stems and pretty flowers.
