Zinnia Elegans 'Oklahoma Golden Yellow'

Trial: Annual

Years Trialed: 1996

Good Qualities

Color (3); No Xanthomonas. Very good, sturdy plant for a yellow. Have not had good luck with layer Dahlia Flowered Yellows. Good uniformity of size and color.; Highest number of flowers per plant of all varieties tested. Strong habit. Fair vase life with supplemental flower food.

Problems

Small flowers (3); I hated the color and so did my florists--Taxi-cab yellow.; Mildew - anthracnose.; A little weak (stems) early in season. Improved in August.; Short stems, disease resistance low, no marketable flowers.; Fungal pathogens and thrips in the greenhouse.

Comments

Some feel this color is in abundance at this time of year, if its use as a dried was more practical it may have more appeal.
