Zinnia Elegans ‘Oklahoma White’

Trial: Annual

Years Trialed: 1996

Good Qualities

+ Color (4); Fair vase life with supplemental flower food.; Very little Xanthomonas. A nice white uniform flower. Sturdy plants. Have not had good luck with white zinnias previously.; Holds up well. Strong stems.; Small flowers.; Pretty white small flowers, strong plant, profuse bloomer.; Very uniform, nice for a white zinnia.

Problems

Short stems (3); Fungal pathogens and thrips in the greenhouse.; Small flowers, disease resistance low, no marketable flowers.; Shorter but overall most sturdy stems of all the colors. Latest to produce saleable flowers.; Mildew.;

Comments

Similar to ‘Polar Bear’ (2) (but ‘Oklahoma’ flowers were not as large) and Purity.; Easy to grow and to use. There is a place for new white flowers in the market. A better greenhouse than field performer.
